New Handmade Cards!

Not really up to stitching right now as my hands and arms are really hurting. Going from part time to full time is really taking a toll, but I'll toughen up eventually :P.

Managed to feel well enough to make a couple of Halloween cards today and I posted the finishes on my papercrafting blog, Fleur de Luce Paperworks .

Please take a look and let me know what you think!

I need to be going for now. Hope everyone is having a great week! :)

Slow Progress

Haven't gotten a whole lot accomplished on my CHS Quaker Alphabet, but to be fair, I'm in the middle of moving across town (the house we were renting from is being foreclosed on) and I am now working full time. My hands hurt too much at night to try and hold my Q-Snaps at night and on the weekends that I have, I've been either too tired, or I've been moving stuff.

At any rate, I've managed to complete another row, and start on the next. I have only two more rows to go, so I am hoping things settle down so I can finish it off soon and get back to my UFO containers. As always, stitchy notes first! :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. It's my Monday, so I get to work! :P

A Wee Bit Of An Update

Got a little bit more done on the sampler. I changed two of the bottom squares to my initials and the year, rather than have the stars in those areas. I think I like it better this way. I am hoping to get it completed soon, so I can move back to my WIPs and UFOs.

At any rate, here's my updated progress! :)

Labor Day Quaker Sampler Progress

Managed to get some stitchy time in for the last two days and have made some headway on A Quaker Alphabet Sampler. I am not sure if I like the DMC 3866 that I've used, however, in some odd way, it seems to work. I am seriously considering adding my initials and the year to the piece and 'sign' it that way. I don't normally sign my work, as I think it detracts from the stitching, and IMO, since I spend so much time stitching, I don't really want anything to draw your eye away from the piece. YMMV, however. :)

At any rate, here is a picture of my two days work, with the related stitchy notes! :)

A Lazy September Sunday WIP update

Haven't stitched a whole lot here lately, as I have been trying to find another job. I put in a resume with four companies on Wednesday, heard back from one on Thursday, got an audition for Friday and wound up getting the job! Yipeee!!!! This is actually a step up and a step to where I need to go in my career. They offer a lot more services than my previous job, which means I won't get as bored and I will learn a lot more. I start this Wednesday and I cannot wait! :)

What all this means is that I really haven't felt like stitching here lately, however, I think I am going to get some stuff accomplished today. I spent all of yesterday doing cleaning and laundry chores, and last night The Hubmeister and I went out on the Strip to wander around. Today is going to be a chill out kind of day with movies, popcorn and some stitching. :P

Here is my update of CHS's Quaker Alphabet. It's a quick stitch, however, I am hoping to get it finished within the next few days. I really do need to finish up Winter Side by Sandy over at SanMan Originals, plus I have a bag beside the bed filled up with WIPs and UFOs that I am anxious to get back to! :) At any rate, on with the stitchy notes and picture! :)

Well, I am off to go do some Yin Yoga . I need to stretch out and be kind to myself today. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Three Projects Completed

Well, since I got a call today from my boss telling me that for the next few weeks I am on call due to it being so slow, I decided to get out the glue and cardboard and put together some stitching that I had completed into actual completed projects. It really frustrates me that this is happening now, but the only thing I can do, and have done, is to look for another job elsewhere. It sucks, but there's really nothing I can do about it. The unemployment rate is almost at 15% which means that it's closer to 30, with all the folks who can no longer claim unemployment and/or could never get it to start with. And since I'm 'on call' and not technically fired, I cannot collect unemployment. GRRRRRR!!!!! However, not one to take that kind of shit lying down, I've pulled myself by my boot straps after the initial breakdown and have some irons in the fire so I am hoping this is temporary. As in, like a total of 20 minutes type of temporary!

At any rate, here are my now completed projects, with the requisite stitchy notes:

First Project:

Design: Quaker Boo (former freebie)

Designer: The Sampler Girl

Fabric: 14 count Potter Purple aida

Fibers:
DMC B5200, 310, 907, 973. Needle Necessities # 106 (Witches' Brew). Kreinik Very Fine Braid #4 in 001.

Errata: You can't see it, but the black ribbon has the word BOO! on it over and over in a lighter purple. Hand sewn by me.

Second Project:

Design: Fleur de Luce Crest

Designer: Fleur de Luce Designs

Fabric: 32 count white linen

Fibers: Crescent Colours Grannie Annie and Snips and Snails

Accoutrement: Toile purchased at Wal-Mart. Cardboard from personal stash. Silver cording purchased from Joanne's Fabrics and Crafts.

Notes: I am not happy with the way this turned out. It's not as neat as I would like it, however, it was a good lesson in what I need to fix the next time I do a round ornament type of affair.

Third Project:

Design: Now I Know My ABC's

Designer: Blackbird Designs

Fabric: 28 count natural raw linen from Zweigart

Floss: Access Commodities Soie d'Alger #17 cream

Accouterments: Lace, cream button, cardboard, and angel charm from personal stash.

Well, I am off for now. Dinner chores are a-callin' and I need to set up a website for my personal practice tonight and tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great day! :)
