A small finish and another WIP

I have my last finish for May. I probably won't finish the piece I am working on in time, however, it will be the first finish of June, and that's ok. :)

This one was a really quick piece. I'm not real happy with the outcome, as I wanted the border done in Crescent Colours Grannie Annie, however, I am almost out and did not have enough to stitch the border. I'm on stash lockdown for the moment, which sucks, but if there's no money, there's no money, yea? More's the pity, n'est pas?

Here's a pic of the completed stitching. It worked up in an afternoon, which is cool. I'll get around to working it up again eventually. :)

Design:

Designer: Be Courdant

Fabric: 28 count natural Pearl linen

Fibers: DMC 310 and Crescent Colours Sunshine Girl and Bandana

Here is the WIP I currently have in the eight inch Q-Snaps. I am enjoying stitching on it, I am just disappointed in the fabric. I took the fabric out of another kit (Little Witch by Shepherd's Bush, to be exact) and I know this piece of fabric on its own had to cost 15 bucks or more. Which is fine, I don't have an issue with that, however, the mottling is only on *one* side. Now, don't get me wrong, I know I can only stitch one side at a time, and it's not like the back could be seen *anyway*, but it just seems wrong to me, that it's only the one side that is pretty and not both. Is that so wrong of me? Well, it's not like Zweigart asked me for my input, yea? ;) Anyhoo, on with the show! :D

Designer: Diane Williams of Little House Needleworks

Design: Red House In Winter (All Dolled Up series, ornament #6)

Fabric: 28 French Country Mocha linen
Fibers: DMC 433, 712, 3031, 3362 (subbed for 3051) and 3828. Crescent Colours Bing Cherry.

I need to bolt for now. Got some more stuff to do, and I think DH is gonna get to come home for lunch today. YAY!!!

First Harvest finish

So, after much fiddling and ripping and figuring out where things were gonna go, I present to you, the finished product. Stitchy notes first as always!

Design: First Harvest

Designer: ME! :D

Fabric: 28 count natural raw linen

Fibers: DMC 347, 372, 676, 937, 938, 3830, and 3865.

I decided to stitch the tomatoes on the trellis with a mix of cross stitches and the dreaded French knots, with long stitches, whole and half cross stitches for the vines and leaves.

I chronicled the journey I took into making this sampler on my new blog, L'atelier de l'archange . Please feel free to let me know what you think! :)

Designing Woman

Well, I finally did it. Broke down and did up a design and even made a blog for it. This is not as easy as it looks. I have no idea of how designers do this all the time. It took forever and I'm not too sure it's still not lame as hell! :P

I still need to fine tune some things and re-chart out the design on a smaller graph paper. Once I do that, I will post it on that blog as a free gift design for you all.

I need to go attend to the nightly chores I have lined up. Laters! :)

Happy May Day! :D

A Happy and Blessed May Day to you all! In some cultures, today is the first day of summer, and I am going to take advantage of the clear, yet slightly cool weather we are having today and I am going out rambling all over the Valley with The Hubmeister today. In a little while, we are going to the Spring Jamboree in Boulder City. It's held every year and it will be nice to get out of the house for a bit and take some pictures and check out the car show they are having.

Since I finished Summer Side yesterday afternoon, I pulled the fabric and threads for Autumn Side. I've barely started, so I won't be posting pics of that, just what I grabbed at the time. :P

Here's what I've decided on:

Fibers: DMC cottons, DMC Light Effects, Kreinik Very Fine Braid. I need some beads and some buttons, but I'm lacking in good autumn buttons. Hrmph. I will have to rectify that I suppose! :P

The fabric is a 28 count Monaco that I hand dyed. I call the color Guinness Foam Cream. ;)

Well, I best be off. The Hubmeister is shooing me off to the shower so we can get going. Happy May Day to you all and may the flowers be plentiful and the sun be warm upon you! :)
