My First Ever HAED Finish!

I did it! I did it! My first ever HAED finish! Mind you, this wasn't an overly large project and I stitched on this off and on, but it's finally finished! I am so happy that it's done. I truly enjoyed every stitch of this one. When I got to the last five stitches, I actually slowed down stitching them. I wanted to savor the accomplishment and the last five stitches for some reason. This was a long, long, project and at times nit-picking and hair pulling, but it was totally worth it! :)

At any rate, on to the good stuff! :)

DMC 310

I just now finished stitching all of the DMC 310 in my current project, Oriental Courage Storykeep. This is exciting news as there were 4, 119 stitches of just that one color!

Well, at any rate, on with the show:

From this point on, I am considering doing all of the other colors one at a time, with the exception of the 817. It would serve to get all of the nitpicking confetti stitches out of the way, while reducing the number of colors I have to deal with.

Well, I had best be off for now. Hope everyone is having a great week! :)

It took about four days of off and on stitching, but I finally have most of the border completed for pages 5 and six completed. There are some stitches on the left side that need completing, however, I am hoping to get to those shortly. :) Basically, I need to do from here on out is the filling in of this block. I am hoping it goes quickly! :)

The Dance It Is Happy!

Come happy dance with me! I have managed to finish pages three and four of Oriental Courage Storykeep and have hit the halfway mark! I have been stitching on this off and on for the last year. For whatever reason, I just decided I HAD to knuckle down and finish these two pages up. I stitched all the confetti stitches first, then just did the fill in with the 817. I put the last of the 817 stitches in during a Hercule Poirot  movie marathon, specifically, Curtain. I must admit, I cried at the end a little as this is the last in the canon and although it's taken 25 years, David Suchet has managed to pull off the impossible. I do like the way he has aged along with Poirot, as I think it lends the series more authenticity.

Welp, on with the show!

The Confetti Post

Well, I tried, I really did. I tried to put Oriental Courage Storykeep down to work on something else because I had 817 fatigue. I even picked up a new project that I have wanted to do for forever now, however, all I did was make mistakes on it. I frogged just about everything out. So, I gave up on that and went back to my current Heaven and Earth Designs. I decided to stop stitching the 817 and just do the confetti stitches. I've made real progress on them, so I am feeling a lot better about things.

Here is my progress so far:

817 Fatigue

Well, it took long enough, but I think I have had DMC 817 fatigue set in. I really do need to either do some of the nitpicking stitches or find something quick to do before Thanksgiving. Looking at the last post's pictures and tonight's, I have made more progress than I thought, however, I am just weary of stitching in 814. Note to self: REALLY make sure you want to stitch a particular Heaven and Earth Designs. You will be staring at this for a long, long, looooooooooooooooong time. It would behoove you to make sure you are totally in love with the color and/or design.

Rock And Roll

  •  What they probably did here was rock and roll. Print the same scene over and over to keep the pixels - the grain - alive.

    - Jingo Asakuma

Some movies you can watch over and over. One of those happens to be Rising Sun for me. It stars Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes. During my weekend, I stayed up a bit late again watching this movie. I also got all of the DMC 310 finished for pages three and four. Up next is the ubiquitous 817. After that, the fill in of different shades of red and then onto pages five and six. This piece is really flying along and I cannot wait to have it finished. I have been thinking about finishing techniques and one that is currently popular is a wall hanging with tassels and bamboo. I will wait until it's completely finished before I make the decision though.

Page Three And Four Update

Decided to stay up late again and burn some more midnight oil. I am really, really loving this project and I cannot put it down. I've decided to quit fighting it and just stitch on it until Black Friday of this year when I begin my SAL with my friend Barb, stitching Christmastide at Holly House by The Scarlett House.  I am just having way, way, WAY too much fun with this one in order to put it down. It's so exciting to see it taking shape!

Well, at any rate, here is what I have so far, after finally putting my needle down just a bit ago:

Happy dance!!

Just mere moments ago, I put in the final stitches of pages one and two of my current WIP Oriental Courage Storykeep! I am so, so excited!! This is the furthest I have ever been on a Heaven and Earth Designs piece and I am loving it. I am even planning the next ones, haha!

Well, at any rate, I present pages one and two in their completion. *SQUEE*

At this point, I should probably get my Be Thankful sampler back out, but I am really wanting to continue with this one! I will make that decision later. Right now, I plan on continuing basking in the glory that is completion, even though I still have about six more pages to go! :)

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Oh! So Very Close!

I am getting so, so close to finishing up pages one and two of Oriental Courage Storykeep. I am enjoying stitching this very much. I totally went the hermit route on my weekend. Loaded up a bunch of Hercule Poirot  movies and just had at it. I kicked things off on my Friday night with Star Trek: Into Darkness. What a fantastic movie. I could watch it over and over.

My goals for the month of November are to finish up pages one and two of my Oriental Courage Storykeep and then try and finish up my Be Thankful piece that I am stitching in honor of Cathey of Pumpkin Patch and Company and her fight with cancer. On Black Friday of this year, my dear friend Barb and I are *FINALLY* getting to stitch a piece together. We've chosen Christmastide at Holly House by The Scarlett House as a stitch a long (SAL) this year. I have my fabric and two of the silk flosses that are needed to stitch the project. The rest of the silk will be purchased right before we begin. I am so excited about this SAL. I have chosen the same 40 Count Newcastle linen by Zweigart in Moondust from Silkweaver Fabrics that I am stitching the Be Thankful sampler on. It REALLY makes the colors pop. It will turn out gorgeous, I am sure. I've also got my Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow on standby as well. I truly do need to pick that one back up. I'm still mulling the pieces that I want to work on for next year. So far, it's nothing but BAP's and UFO's. We will see once the new year starts, eh?

Well, enough of my blathering. Here's my progress since Halloween night:

All I have to do now is fill in all of that white part with DMC 817 and pages one and two will be finished. I am so excited about that! I have pages three and four put together, so if I get any free time in between my goals, it will be ready to go.

Well, I best be off. Need to get ready for work. Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend! :)

Happy Halloween Post

Last night I couldn't sleep, so I decided to burn some midnight oil and put in a few hours on my Oriental Courage Storykeep. I made a LOT of hot tea and put some movies on the computer and decided to have a DMC party consisting of 310 and 817, with a wee bit of 666 and 815 thrown in for variety. Note to self, if you do this again, pick another project that is either monochrome or has large areas of one or two colors to stitch. At 4 AM, you are not capable of confetti stitching at that hour. :D

For whatever reason, this year I have decided to forgo Halloween themed stitching. The bug just did not hit me this year at ALL. Which is fine I suppose, as I have enough to stitch for 12 lifetimes. Not that I will ever admit to that out loud! :P

I may also have to put my Oriental Courage Storykeep aside for the upcoming Christmas season. I have a friend of mine that wants to stitch up Christmastide at Holly House by The Scarlett House as a stitch a long (SAL) this year. I also still have my Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow that needs attending to. I have been thinking about my stitching goals for next year, and at this point I may not have any at all. Seems like every time I make them, I never can keep them. As it is, I will not have a finish for the end of this month as this is the last day, and both Christmastide at Holly House and Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow are huge projects, so I don't see any quick finishes there. Ah, well. These things happen.

Welp, here is the progress that I have made on Oriental Courage Storykeep since Sunday. As always, stitchy notes first! :)

I am the Dragon Lady

Hooray! I *finally* got to the point where I am no longer working on background, but on the main portion of the design. I am so excited! I am now officially over half a page completed on a Heaven and Earth Designs. YAY!!! Go me!!! Now that I have gotten to this point, it's going VERY quickly. I am having to force myself to slow down, as mistakes can be made at this juncture and ripping out red thread over one on a 22 count is no bueno.

And just for giggles, I am posting the number of stitches that are used for each color of floss. I nearly fell over when I read how many I am going to have to do in 817! :O

DMC 154: Number of Stitches 148
DMC 310: Number of Stitches 4119
DMC 321: Number of Stitches 172

DMC 817: Number of Stitches 10702
DMC 902: Number of Stitches 3

DMC 3371: Number of Stitches 318

I better pace myself on the DMC 902. I'm liable to throw an elbow out with that many stitches :D!

At any rate here's my progress in one week. As always stitchy notes first:
