Off and On Topic
Sorry for the lack of updates, folks. Been running around like crazy with school and up and moving to the other side of town to be closer to my school and DH's work. We are slowly moving everything from storage into the house and unpacking from there. It's kind of going like a root canal, long, slow and painful, but we have a roof over our heads and are no longer in a hotel. :)
As a consequence, I do not have any finishes for July and I doubt I will have one for August. I really have not been feeling up to it. I study a lot now, so I guess some things will be put on the back burner for a while, which is a shame. Basically, I am in school most of the day, come home, grab lunch, study and then pass out by 930 PM. I am hoping to get my mojo back soon as it's nearing Halloween and I adore stitching Halloween related things. (My beloved SMO board will be good for this. Sandy always has tons of treats for the members!)
This past Friday, August 14, DH and I celebrated 6 months of being married. It's crazy, but I have no clue where the time went. Neither does DH, LOL! He took me out for a *very* rare treat to Texas de Brazil (http://texasdebrazil.com/). I have a guy that's in my class who is the GM of the restaurant here and he told us to come by and he would take care of us. Oh, boy, did he! Gave us a break on the check and the food was flowing. It's a Brazilian steakhouse and if ever get the opportunity to go, run, do not walk! It's awesome!
I need to bolt for now. DH and I have errands to run and we need to get some lunch.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

No finishes, just WIPs and UFOs
So here it is the middle of July and no finish yet. I really do not want to ride on the coattails of the months where I completed stitching on more than one project, however, I just do not have a lot of motivation at the moment. I have new glasses that I am trying to get adjusted to (after 10 years of wearing contacts) and there's been a lot going on in the house lately.
I've been trying to get a leg up ( so to speak!) on my upcoming schoolwork which begins in nine days. I still need to get the National Certification Board review book and start in on that, so I have time to prepare for the test. It costs a LOT of money to take and I do not want to have to take it umpteen times. (And if I read the Candidate Handbook correctly, you cannot take it past five times without serious implications. Even after 3, they start giving you a hard time about it.)
I seem to be on one of my 'collecting' kicks, whereby I look for free charts, trade, and purchase from other stitchers the various accouterments that needleworkers all over the world seem to think they *need* to have. Right now, I am contemplating starting another design. It's French and very pretty! (natch!) and I would change the middle motif to an initial if I did start it. I am thinking a classic red and white, although, I am kind of digging on a dark navy blue and white...maybe a DMC B5200 (Anchor 001) and a DMC 939 (Anchor 152). Or maybe something in Crescent Colours. IDK. We will see.
Although, I really should get off my fat butt and finish something I already have. /sigh.
Hope everyone is having a good day!

Bling! Bling!
So, yea. Earlier today, my mother and I went to Caesar's Palace to wander around and see all the shops they have. It's all very 'Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous'. Lots of bling, lots of stuff I cannot and probably will not ever be able to afford, but fun to wander around and look at for an afternoon.
A word about where I live. Vegas isn't like most places where they REQUIRE that you have an appointment to show up and when you get there, you had better be dressed in something resembling your Sunday best. Shorts and t-shirts don't cut it. Fortunately for me, I live in a place where, if I had the available cash, I can purchase a pair of million dollar earrings or a half a million dollar automobile at 11 PM on a Sunday night and no one blinks twice. Go me. :D
Here are some of the pics that I took. I am hoping to get to take my mother to the Bellagio, where they have some really neat botanical gardens inside the hotel. Please enjoy! :)
This fountain area is really pretty. Caesar Augusts there is actual a marvel of animatronics. It's really weird to watch him 'singing' and seeing the 'minions' do the same. :O
Pete Rose in the house signing autographs. No, I didn't get one, because I think baseball sucks :P:
Reflecting pool/wishing well. Just about every casino in town takes the money they get out of the pools once a year and they donate it all to local charities. This is sometimes in the millions of dollars.
The Mecca that is Harry Winston. It has been a dream of mine to actually be able to go into one of these stores and today it came true. Harry Winston has outfitted Kings, Queens, actresses (Elizabeth Taylor!) and the just plain filthy rich for a long, long time now. He is a Master at jewelcrafting and if I ever get the chance to own a piece, even if it's just a tiny pendant, I would consider myself blessed.
Afterwards, my mother and I went to a local rock shop, Jewelry and Mineral of Las Vegas. I love to collect rocks and have quite a collection and I am always looking (and wanting!) to expand.
I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

*Can't Remember Shit
IDK about anyone else, but I suffer from this affliction. It seems like it gets worse every year that rolls around, but it could just be me (hopefully!!).
It really did bug me that I couldn't remember the type of fabric I used to stitch my last project (http://archangeldecker.blogspot.com/2009/05/french-rose-monogram-finish.html). I need to start labeling my fabrics as well as I keep up my stitching journals. After a considerable amount of time, I managed to track down the name of the fabric used, 28 count Glasgow linen in Flax. I am 98% sure this is the correct fabric. I have another UFO that uses the exact same fabric, so I am quite positive that it is the same. (I also need to get back to that UFO and finish it. It was started on Monday, March 21, 2005! That was FOUR bloody years ago! :O).
Stitched a bit yesterday on the My Big Toe Designs 'Joy of Christmas' 2009 ornament and Little House Needleworks 'Blueberries' kit. I chose a cream 28 count Monaco fabric for this project. The colors are really popping on it and I am pleased with the results so far. :)
Well, off to do some chores before my day starts. Actually, I have to do some more chores. I've been up since 6:30 AM and so far I've made breakfast, fed the cats, made up the bed, made DH's lunch for the day, sent said DH off to work, did some picking up and some general organizing. Still have lots to do, so I better get to it! :)
I hope everyone has a wonderful day out there today.
Peace, Namaste, and Sayonara! :D

Surprise Trip
Early in the afternoon on Friday, my DH sent me a text message telling me to get packed for a few days, we were going out of town. I sent a reply asking how I should pack. He told me to pack for Flagstaff, AZ. We almost didn't go, as when we looked up the weather, it looked like it was going to rain literally everywhere on the planet, with the exception of Toronto, Canada and Cairo, Egypt. Ugh.
We decided to go anyway, figuring that even if it rained, we needed to get out of the house, and get out of town for a bit. We live in a fairly crowded house, so any time alone is precious. We left Friday afternoon a bit late, about around 4:30 PM. We had dinner at Cracker Barrel in Kingman, AZ (closest one!) and arrived in Flagstaff at around 9:30 or so.
We got up a bit late the next day, but to be fair, we really did not have a time schedule for anything. Just go when we felt like it, eat when hungry, sleep when tired sort of thing. We drove to the Grand Canyon and hiked along the southern portion of the Canyon. It's gorgeous. I can't wait to go back. I took a lot of pics along the way. We hiked about 5 miles, and that was not including the walking we did in Flagstaff when get got back.
Flagstaff is a really neat town and I really do wish we could have stayed longer and/or moved there. It's kind of quirky and artsy and we really like it there. Only downside is the housing market is weird out there and we don't have any way to support ourselves. :( Bummer.
On the way back, we managed to catch some of the Gumball 3000. (The Gumball 3000 is an annual 3000 mile (5000 km) international rally which takes place on public roads, with a different 3000 mile route around the world each year. 120 cars participate, often driven by their owners. Now in its 11th year the event has grown into an established fixture on the popular culture calendar annually attracting household names from music, film and sport to participate, including David Hasselhoff, Adrien Brody, Johnny Knoxville, and Tony Hawk. Although set up as a rally with no official timing, or prizes for reaching checkpoints first, during the rally, some participants have been fined for speeding and other traffic offenses by the police in countries they passed through. Cars participating have also been confiscated by the authorities of countries they pass through. The Gumball 3000 was founded in 1999 by Maximilian Cooper. Cooper invited 55 of his wealthiest friends to take part in a 6 day 3000 mile drive around Europe, partying every night.) It was really neat to see all of the exotics like Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porches, BMW's, a Jaguar XJ220 and even a Bugatti Veyron. (Whoooooooooooooooo!!!)
I managed to snag this pic while we were crossing over the Hoover Dam:
I took some completely random shots of the Hoover Dam as we were passing by. I basically just stuck the camera out of the car window and clicked until I got something. :D Here are some of my efforts:
I would have had some cooler pics of the Dam itself, however, it was 7 bucks for parking and we had no cash on us. :(. Oh, well. It's half an hour down the road and it's not like they are going to move it any time soon. :P

What to do...what to do?
So, here I sit with umpteen WIPs and UFOs and I don't feel like stitching any of it. I want to stitch, but I do not feel like stitching on anything I have out already, and I am wondering if I am too lazy to put together yet another project.
I am sort of jonesing for a Little House Needleworks fix, but I am not sure which one. Something quick, or something that's gonna take more than a minute.
What to do...what to do?
Questions, comments and/or passing thoughts always appreciated. :)

Cherry blossoms and CoCo Chanel
Instead of stitching today, I have been on a mad spring cleaning spree. A lady on the SMO board had requested a free chart I was *sure* that I had. While I was looking, I decided to weed out what I was not ever going to stitch.
I am going to have to have a contest or something over on the SMO board. Some of the freebie gifts are one of a kinds that have never seen the light of the intarwebz. Some of the designs are ones that have been ripped out of magazines, both US and British.
Then I get the bright idea that the rest of my stitching area needed a good clean out. All I can say is 'oy'. Just......*OY!*
The two piles that you are seeing represent leaflets and kits that I will never get around to stitching. I will probably offer these up for sale and/or trade. Some of the kits are from UK magazines, one is a Shepherd's Bush full kit, and the rest are things I will just never, ever get around to stitching.
Sad part is.... I have *yet* to get to the magazines, which will be next on the list. I have been collecting for about 15 years, so this will be a job and a half. /sigh.
OH.
MAH.
GAWD.
I probably won't get around to stitching until later tonight, if not tomorrow. Dealing with family issues takes a toll on me, as I am not one who thrives on constant drama.
I live about five minutes (by car) from Chinatown, and I love this area, because of the influences to the surrounding areas.
Case in point:
I was outside getting some air, when I was yanked out of my funk by someone playing a Chinese bamboo flute. It was then that I also noticed this blooming in the backyard:
It is a cherry blossom tree. It made me realize that things do bloom, in their own time, even in the desert.
A little while ago, I came across this quote, attributed to CoCo Chanel. Whether it is true or not, (sources via the intarwebz varies), however, I find this to be true, particularly in light of recent events:
Don't spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door.
How true that is.....
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Not so much an update
As I feel guilty about not posting. Ah, well, whatareaygonnado? /shrug
Went to Philly for a 'Steak and Cake' run and it was as good as I remembered it. Picked up a really nice print by a local artist in a shop called 'The Curiosity Shoppe'. It's of Jim's Steaks. It's really neat looking. Amber bought a whole cheesecake from the 4th Street Deli (http://www.famouscookies.com/). It's about 12 inches in diameter and about 3 and 1/4 inches tall and total sex on a stick. The staff are friendly and the main chef made sure that we got the best cake. If you are ever even REMOTELY near Philly, go there for cheesecake. Jim's Steaks is a block from there, so go there for a cheesesteak. There really is no excuse for not going. :D
I haven't stitched since my last post. I really need to. Getting a finish under my belt would at least give me SOME sense of accomplishment. Why, oh why, are we so willing to believe the worst about ourselves?
Time to do some more job searching. I hope everyone has a good day!

Big Ol Jet Airliner
Don't carry me too far away. Thank you Steve Miller.
I left Monday at 430 PST to go to the DC Metro area again, this time in search of work. There is just nothing for me in Las Vegas, no matter how much I love the place. Since I've been here, I've applied for half a dozen jobs, and had feedback on one already. Today I applied for a French baker as a baker and Data Entry for Lockheed Martin. Gotta love the DC Metro area! :D
Currently, I am working on Little House Needleworks 'Queen Bee'. It is 3/4ths of the way completed, but I am a dimwit and forgot the camera. :(. I am seriously thinking about having my FH FedEx it to me. Particularly in light of the fact that there is another Philly trip involved and a NYC trip as well. Curse my forgetfulness!
Well, I need to get up off my slacker ass and get dressed. Amber and I are going to a Japanese steakhouse in DC and it's supposed to be REALLY good. In true slacker fashion, I am still in my jammies and I got up at 11 AM this morning. Good god, Gertie!

A new start and some random quizzes
I am the Goddess of Starting Cross Stitch projects, I swear. I have more starts than you can shake a stick at. Honestly, if starting new projects was heroin, I would've been in rehab a loooooooooooooong time ago. I decided earlier today that I needed to do Lizzie Kate's 'Happy New Year' #S63. I wanted it to look happy and festive, so I pulled a 28 count black (yes, you read that correctly BLACK) jobelan fabric. Right now I am stitching the 'Happy New Year' portion in Needle Necessities #1931 Calypso threads. It's really popping and I hope to finish it soon, preferably BEFORE NYE, so I can hang it up for a while on the stitchy wall. We will see, eh? o.o
Now, for some completely random quizzes that I found online. This is just to suck up some space on the blog, no need to read further unless you have free time to kill. :)
Act your age? My FH frequently calls me juvenile, but I like a good penis joke. So sue me. :)

Now, for some completely random quizzes that I found online. This is just to suck up some space on the blog, no need to read further unless you have free time to kill. :)

The Grateful Post
I have pretty much been fighting off depression for a while now. No job = no mon-ay and this makes the holidays quite difficult. I can't buy the people that I love the things I think they need and/or deserve, but as my sister Amber told me, it is my time and my love that mean more than 'stuff' and you can't really get either one of those back. I've always said she is the smarter of the two of us.
But at any rate, fighting off depression means I haven't stitched for squatski. And by squatski, I mean absolute bupkus. Trying to fend off inner demons, when they are allowed to run buck wild, is like trying to reach the surface after being thrown overboard into a very dark, very cold body of water. You can't breathe, body parts ache, and you don't think you will ever reach the surface. In my opinion, there is no greater hell than what a person can create in their own mind.
So, in an effort to drag myself up from the depths, I forced myself to stitch on the 'Peace' ornament. I have got a fair bit done, and it's 3/4ths of the way done. Which made me happy. When you stitch, at least for me, it takes my mind off of whatever is driving me straight up a tree at the time. Research has been done ( I will locate my credible sources later) that state that the mind enters a light trance state when a subject enters into an activity that one finds pleasant. Groovy.
When I was stitching, I started to think about all the things I HAVE, rather than the things I DON'T. Lo. and behold, my mood started to change, and I have a list of things I want to do tomorrow, instead of moping around the house all day. As the Buddhists say: chop wood, carry water.
Here are some bits and pieces of what I was thinking I am really, really grateful:
1. My future husband. The love of my life and one of my best friends. Without you, life would sure be a lot loveless.
2. My mother. Without her, I wouldn't just plain BE here. Someone who truly gives of herself and always tells me she loves me, no matter how badly I *think* I may have screwed up.
3. My sisters. One by blood, one by the grace of God. I cannot live without either one of you and I miss you horribly.
4. A roof over my head. A lot of folks are losing their homes, while I have over 2500 square feet and a sunken tub fit for a queen. Really, it could be far worse and I pray for those who have lost their homes all the time.
5. Food in the fridge. Again, in this economy, I have more than my share, while others have to do without.
6. Enough cross stitch paraphernalia to sink the Queen Mary. Quite frankly, I think people who do needlework had to have been Egyptian in former lives. We buy it as if they aren't ever gonna make any ever again, and then want to take it with us.
7. The Las Vegas Kitteh Clique. Yes, I sometimes get weary of cleaning up poop and barf, but if I didn't you wouldn't be here and I would be very sad about that.
8. My book collection. Quoth one Mr. Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd president and a total hottie, 'I cannot live without books'. I have more than my share, but I will always buy more.
9. My friends. Be they online or real life or both, you keep me sane and make me see that it's not so bad.
10. Faith that things will get better. I don't know why or how, but deep down inside, I know something really really good is about to come around, I just need to be patient. (Which I have almost ZERO patience!)
I will post pics of what I did tonight sometime tomorrow. Hopefully, the batteries will hold out, but hey....yanevaknow.

Snow in the desert
The weather folks here were calling for snow. At first I thought they were bs-ing, because I live in a section of the Mojave desert. Snow....in the desert. Well, at any rate here it is:
It's not the kind that sticks, but it's nice to see during the holiday season. :)
I still don't feel like stitching.....

Ho, ho, ho.....Big effin' deal
Yes, I know this is supposed to be a stitching blog, but honestly, I haven't felt like it. There's just too much going on and I'm too stressed out to deal with any of it.
That's all for now. I'm in a really blea kind of mood and the weather here really isn't helping.

ZOMG!! A response!
Got two emails from Bloomingdale's. The first one was your typical automated bs. I understand the need for it, as I myself worked in the e-Commerce department of a ladies' swimwear company. Here's the first one:
Thank you for taking the time to write to us at bloomingdales.com.
In response to your comments, I have reviewed your inquiry. We
appreciate your feedback regarding your recent visit to our store
location. I have forwarded your comments to our corporate offices for
further review. A representative from our corporate offices may contact
you, if necessary, to obtain more information regarding your experience.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please e-mail us at
customerservice@bloomingdales.com.
Sincerely,
Kristin
Bloomingdale's Customer Service
Bloomingdales.com Customer Service
And here is the 2nd, which for obvious reasons, I find more interesting than the first:
Dear C:
Thank you for taking the time to e-mail us. We have received your message, and it's been forwarded to Catherine Cook, Store Manager at our Tysons Corner location, for review and response. Please be assured we take your message very seriously. Catherine Cook or someone from the Tysons Corner executive office will contact you in the near future. Thank you for shopping Bloomingdale's.
Gloria Craighead
Vice President, Customer Service
Bloomingdale's
We will see what comes out of this. Honestly, I do not want nor do I EXPECT any sort of 'compensation' for this. I just want the issues fixed. I want better customer service and more importantly, better CLOTHING. I'm sorry, but just because a female is over a size 12, doesn't mean she's a second class citizen. Here's a pro tip: bigger females already feel bad enough about themselves. Treating us like we don't or worse yet, SHOULDN'T exist, just makes us feel even worse, so thank you for that. Like I *want* to be larger than a size 8. Assholes.
I also find the last sentence very ironic: Thank you for shopping Bloomingdale's. Why are you thanking me for doing something that I didn't get to do to START with? Is it *just* me, or did I just get thanked for having a crappy experience in their store? Iuno.... seems weird to me.
I will post if I get any calls and/or additional emails. Like I said, the only 'compensation' I want is for that no other woman (or man) having to have that same experience.

On Chestnut Street between 5th and 6th Streets
I didn't get any trips to any specialized LNS's (Local Needlework Shops) while I was in Virginia for 10 days. Why? Time was a factor. If Amber and I were not keeping the roads hot, she was at work. Here was the basic timeline:
Friday 11.21.08: Arrive in Dulles International Airport at 12:20 AM. Finally get to sleep at around 2 AM.
Friday 11.21.08: Spent the day in DC with Amber and a former co-worker of ours named Dave. Did a lot of walking, eating and picture taking. Friday night was spent with Dave's co-worker's at a Japanese steakhouse. While the food there was unremarkable, the bartender made up for it with free drinks and a lot of them.
Saturday 11.22.08: Spent the day in Baltimore, MD. Went to the Baltimore Aquarium and spent most of the day there. It was 30 bucks EACH to get in, but that included the 'Dolphin Experience' and a 4-D mini movie featuring the Polar Express. Had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. Dinner was good, but nothing OMFG to die for.
Sunday 11.23.08: Got up a bit late and lallygagged around for a bit. As consequence, got a late start to Richmond, VA and Amelia, VA. Why Podunk, VA? Well, see back on October 23, 1997 (a Thursday) my beloved father passed from complications due to pancreatic cancer. Enough time as passed where I don't think about it every day. But then again, I still have times where I think of nothing at all, and the pain is just as real and as raw and as fresh as it was the day he died. I had not been to Amelia where he is buried in at least 5 years. As a born and bred Southerner, I feel guilty about that. And I mean a LOT. So, a trip out there was not negotiable. It took me a while to even locate the marker. I even had walked past it 3 times, trying to find it. I called up my sister in a panic, because I knew I couldn't find it. I finally found it while on the phone with her. As I was walking towards it, I felt the tears start welling up and I felt my chest tightening up. When I got to where the marker was, I felt my knees give way and I just began crying uncontrollably. For the longest time, I just sat there on my knees crying. I didn't really cry during his sickness nor during the funeral or even after that. I was busy taking care of my mother at the time, and quite frankly, I was working full time and was just too busy. When I saw the marker, I just let it all go, and it was draining and exhausting, but well worth it. I was sorry Amber had to witness all that, but I knew in my mind I would not be judged for such displays of emotion. We went to my old neighborhood afterwards and the town home I used to live in is now for sale. They want too much for it, but isn't that always the case? We tried to go to dinner at a place called Extra Billy's, but the bastards were closed on Sundays. Which totally sucked ass, cause I was really looking forward to it, but whattyagonnado?
Here is a pic of my father's grave marker. Blogosphere, this is my Daddy. Daddy...this is...everybody. :)
Monday 11.24.08 Amber went into work for the morning then came and got me around 1230 or so. She took me to a day spa called Orchid for a mini makeover. I had a deep tissue massage, hair color, hair cut, manicure, pedicure and half my body waxed. The ladies were EXTREMELY efficient and quite good at their job. The deep tissue massage was a trip, because the gal who was giving it went so far up my thigh at one point, I immediately thought 'Happy ending?!' O.O I had a really good time and recommend it to anyone who can do that. Went back to the house and ordered a metric f-ton of Chinese food and just chilled out.
Tuesday 11.25.08: Since Amber had to work all day, I just chilled out with the dog and then cleaned the house. Amber tried to yell at me for it, but I blamed the dog. :D
Wednesday 11.26.08: Amber worked half a day. We didn't make any plans so we went to the mall and bummed around. There were a lot of people milling around and not much shopping going on. We went to the Macaroni Grill for lunch and I had the chicken Marsala ravioli that was awesome.
Thursday, 11.27.08: Ate dinner kinda late, but it was well worth it. Amber and I cooked for myself, her, and her dog. Yep. You read that right. Two people and a dog. We all overate, drank too much, and slept like kings and queens. All in all an excellent day.
Friday 11.28.08: Black Friday. Again, another late start. But we finally managed to make it to Tyson's Corner for some shopping. Hit up Bare Minerals for new make up, Victoria's Secret for a new bra (go go BioFit!) and then to find me a new suit for interviews, because I've been unemployed for what seems like an e-frickin-ternity. Had a wonderful day up until the point we went to Bloomingdale's. Now, let me explain something at this point. We had to go to the second floor to go to the 'ladies' clothing, which was not an issue. We passed by sections that had very cute, very stylish and VERY expensive clothing (350 bucks for a skirt anyone?). Then we get to the 'women's' section. Now, for those who don't know what that is, it is the section of clothing for chicks like me over a size 12. And this one was in the FURTHEST corner of the store. And this is where the fun sort of ends. The clothes that were 'offered' were nothing short of a disgrace. Ugly would be both kind and an overstatement. I was horrified. The one lone saleswoman we saw all of 30 seconds disappeared and we never saw her again. We were never waited on. We had NO issues spending a massive amount of money on a good looking suit, so that I can be gainfully employed once more, but I was adamant in not spending a DIME in that store. We were even going to hit up the Lancome counters for anti aging crap, but I was going to be damned if we were going to blow that kind of money on piss poor service and even worse clothing options. So, needless to say, Bloomingdale's is on my shit list. I am going to be emailing them an ass chewing. I will post any replies, but I am not expecting any. One would think that in these especially hard economic times, a store of the caliber of Bloomingdale's would put forth more effort, but I guess they don't need our money. So be it. We wound up going to Lane Bryant at Dulles Town Center and got a really really nice suit for under 100 bucks. I look professional in it and more importantly, I FEEL professional in it. So fuck Bloomie's. They can kiss my ass.
Saturday 11.29.08: Went to Philadelphia. Had an absolute blast. Had lunch in a place called Rotten Ralph's and the cheesesteak was awesome. Saw the Carpenter's Hall, the Liberty Bell, a portrait museum which is housed in what used to be the 2nd ever bank in America and wandered around a lot. We didn't get to go into Independence Hall itself, because tickets (which are free) were all given out for the day, but we got to walk the grounds and sat on a park bench for a while, just watching the foot traffic. I started the Independence Hall kit that I got at the Carpenter's Hall museum shop sitting on a park bench outside Independence Hall. It was kinda neat to sit there and stitch for a bit and think about the people who used those same walkways on their way to change the nation that I live in. Pretty heady stuff. And it made up for that utter ASININE female we had the misfortune of running into at the Liberty Bell who proclaimed quite loudly that (and I quote verbatim) 'basically all of this is for the glorification of a defective bell'. Patrick Henry is rolling in his grave, I just know it. I myself had a 30 minute rant about that comment and Amber hustled me out of there tout suite. OY. Just........omfg......OY OY OY!!!
At any rate, we later on went to Jim's Steaks for dinner and the 45 minute wait was well worth it. The line went around the corner. The cooks don't take any guff, so place the order and move on. If you want fancy dancy ass kissing customer service, this is not the place for you. The line I am told is like that ALL the time, and when you have that many people wanting to be fed, you can't stand there and schmooze the customers. Besides, this is South Philly, ffs. Being PC is the furthest thing on their minds. I also loved the 4th Street deli where we picked up some cheesecake and some cookies. Damn, that is some gooooooooooood shit. Go to both, I promise you you won't regret it.
Sunday 11.30.08: Early morning flight, like at 805 AM. Seats were better and I was more comfortable on this flight, as opposed to being cramped up like a sardine on the way out. I still cried when I left, but I was happy to see my FH when I landed. The rest of the day was spend unpacking, laundry and catching up with FH.
Need to go put up my winter holiday stitching. I hope everyone had the Thanksgiving they wanted. I know I did. :)

Gone ten days and I took over 400 pics. Managed to upload 80 of them, so I was choosy which ones got posted.

Off to VA!
Well, I am off to VA for 10 days. Going to visit a very dear friend of mine for Thanksgiving. We have trips to Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Richmond planned. There will be massive amounts of food, drinking, partying, and shopping. I'll be sleeping on the plane on the way back for sure! LOL!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. And may the Turkey be with you all!

The sum up
I'm a bottom line kinda gal, and I appreciate things that basically cut to the chase.
With 65 bloody WIPs/UFOs in 2 plastic bins, you can guess how successful I have been at staying off the intarwebz, yea?
I didn't put not *one* stitch in all day. I've basically felt like hell and just didn't feel like it. Hope everyone has a good weekend.
As Scarlett O'Hara once said: Tomorrow is another day...
