May Cake Finish

I finished this guy up just in the nick of time. With this finish, this concludes the 'Spring' birthday cake freebies from Brooke Nolan of Brooke's Books. I am waffling on continuing with the Summer series, or if I should pick up something from the Bin O'Shame. I have not had a finish from the Bin O'Shame in quite some time. (Almost a year, I think). I really do need to get back to it, as I am soooooooo close to finishing them all up.

Well, at any rate, here is the second finish for the month of May and the eighth for the year.

Design: May Cake

Designer: Brooke Nolan of Brooke's Books

Fabric Used: 32 count Belfast linen from Silkweavers' in Dusk

Fibers Used: DMC Embroidery Floss Art. 117 as called for in the chart. Anchor six strand embroidery floss in 02, Brightest White.

Beads Used: Mill Hill beads in #02031 Citron,   #42101 Purple and #03050 Champagne Ice Antique Glass seed beads. Kreinik #4 braid in 007 - Pink.

Stitchers' Notes: Design from the 12 month series of monthly Birthday Cakes. Finished Tuesday, May 29, 2018. Left off border. Substituted DMC Embroidery Floss Art. 117  B5200 for Anchor six strand embroidery floss in 02 Brightest White. Eighth finish for 2018.

Time for me to be off. I need to clean up my area and check on dinner. Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. Happy stitching!

April Birthday Cake Finish For May

My latest finish is way late for the month of April. This is due to getting socked with allergies and living in an apartment building with inconsiderate smokers. I am hoping that the situation gets rectified soon, but who knows?

At any rate, I have managed to finish this guy up. I am pleased with the way that it has turned out, although for whatever reason, this one was a bit fiddly to work on. I am not sure why, but that's the way it goes.

Here is my first finish for May and my seventh for the year:

Design: April Cake

Designer: Brooke Nolan of Brooke's Books

Fabric Used: 28 count natural Cashel linen of unknown manufacturer

Fibers Used: DMC Embroidery Floss Art. 117 as called for in the chart. Anchor six strand embroidery floss in 02, Brightest White.

Beads Used: Mill Hill beads in #00479 White and and #03050 Champagne Ice Antique Glass seed beads.

Stitchers' Notes: Design from the 12 month series of monthly Birthday Cakes. Finished Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Left off border. Substituted DMC Embroidery Floss Art. 117  B5200 for Anchor six strand embroidery floss in 02 Brightest White. Seventh finish for 2018.

Welp, time for me to be off. Tons to do today and I need to get my next project put together. I hope everyone is having a great week.

Happy stitching! :)

Happy Birthday March Cake Finish

Happy day, all! I chose this latest design because this series is one that I have wanted to stitch as soon as the series began. There are so many applications for these designs. And I love the use of color and beading that Brooke Nolan uses in her designs.

I am also excited to use a large piece of fabric from my LNS' inventory sale. Once a year they have a 'fabric by the pound' sale and this past December, I purchased 2 pounds of fabric in all counts and colors for $10.00. I could not pass that up! This year I will have to see about saving up more loose change for the end of the year inventory sale. I didn't get a whole lot this past year, but I love what I did get and really, two pounds of fabric is none too shabby. :)

At any rate, here is my latest finish:

Design: March Cake

Fabric Used: 32 count Belfast linen from Silkweavers' in Dusk

Fibers Used: DMC Embroidery Floss Art. 117 as called for in the chart. Anchor six strand embroidery floss in 02, Brightest White.

Three For Three In Time For Finish Friday

And that makes three for me. I decided to keep on my roll of stitching from the Dans Mon Jardin book by Véronique Enginger of Les Brodeuses Parisiennes. I just adore this book. I love the way the designs stitch up and I love the fact that they are elegant and quick to stitch. I am sure that some of the designs will take longer than others, but that's true of pretty much any hobby, yes?

Design: Les étiquettes des bocaux (Jar Labels): Clothespin with Flowers from the book Dans Mon Jardin

Designer: Véronique Enginger of Les Brodeuses Parisiennes

Fabric Used:  28 count Cashel linen of unknown manufacturer

Fibers Used: DMC Embroidery Floss Art. 117 as called for: B5200, 151, 210, 535, 552, 676, 677, 729, 747, 3011, and 3348.

Stitchers' Notes: Book purchased February 2017 in Japan Town, San Francisco, CA. Teacup jar label first project of three. Began Thursday, March 2, 2017. Finished Friday, March 10, 2017. Design number three of three.

I have already visited our local Michael's and unfortunately, I am unable to locate more of the frames that I used on the first design in this series. I will have to drop 20 and punt, but I am sure I will be able to find something quite complementary.

Time for me to be off. I need to clean up my stitching area and get started on the next project.

Happy weekend to you all! :)

Two Of Three On Finish Friday

This little guy was stitched up a lot quicker than I thought it was going to be stitched up! I began this one right after I had hung up the finish from yesterday afternoon. I had a good bit completed before I went to bed and I managed to finish this piece just a bit ago. I need to get to Michael's to see if they have the same frame or something similar, as I have a feeling that the last one in the series, the clothespin with flowers, will go just as quickly.

Well, here it is, in all its' spring time glory:

Design: Les étiquettes des bocaux (Jar Labels) Yellow Teabag from the book Dans Mon Jardin

Designer: Véronique Enginger of Les Brodeuses Parisiennes

Fabric Used:  28 count Cashel linen of unknown manufacturer

Fibers Used: DMC Embroidery Floss Art. 117 as called for: 151, 471, 535, 676, 677, 734, 3011, 3012, 3348 and 3688.

Stitchers' Notes: Book purchased February 2017 in Japan Town, San Francisco, CA. Teacup jar label first project of three. Began Thursday, March 2, 2017. Finished Friday, March 3, 2017. Design number two of three.

Off I go to start on the last of this series. I have really enjoyed stitching these beautiful designs.

Have a great weekend, everybody! :)

Jar Labels En Française

Some time ago, my husband and I went to go visit with his grandfather. He lives in the Bay Area and is a lovely old gentleman. I have never really had a grandfather, so it was nice to see him and visit with him. As a special treat, my husband took me to Japan Town, which is a section of San Francisco and one of my favorite areas to visit. There is a lot of shopping and good food to be had there. There is a bookstore within Japan Town, where I picked up a French book of cross stitch. Honest to God :) ! The book is by Véronique Enginger of Les Brodeuses Parisiennes. I picked it out as the colors are gorgeous and the artwork is simply stunning. The style is quite French and I love it. While the book is printed in Japanese, fortunately, I am fluent in Stitching, so I am able to at least read and comprehend the stitching parts of it. The book is called 'Dans Mon Jardin' and it reminds me of spring and summer:

I think that with all the cold and snow we are having, I was feeling the need for warmer temps and flowers.

It was very difficult to choose which project I was going to begin stitching. I spent quite a bit of time waffling between all of them. I simply could not decide! However, with DH's help, I decided to begin with three smaller designs, that were designed to be together. I have already decided to frame them all separately after I stitch all of them. They will hang in our kitchen when completed.

Well, time for me to be off. It's on to the next project! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!
