A Slice Of Summer Finish

Well, that was sure quick! I had a lot of fun with this project and love stitching Waxing Moon pieces. They go so quick and turn out exceptionally well.

Fibers Used: Anchor six strand embroidery floss in 246. Crescent Colours  cotton floss in Hickory Sticks and Sunshine Girl.  The Gentle Art Sampler Threads in Hibiscus. Needle Necessities #1091 Independence Day (retired floss). 

Accouterments: Mill Hill beads in #42014 Petite Black seed beads. Gold bees of unknown manufacturer.

Stitchers' Notes: Design is OOP and retired due to the frame and buttons being no longer manufactured. Stitched with supplies in stash. Needle Minder by Puffin and Company

A Slice Of Summer

Howdy all! Hope everyone is staying cool in this heat. Temps have been quite warm here, and are expected to rise during the end of the week. I am not ready to start stitching on fall/Halloween designs as of yet, so I am continuing with summer themed stitching. 

This latest project is one that I have wanted to do for a very long time. It is discontinued as the frame is no longer being made, however, I do not let things like that stop me. I am sure I will find the appropriate finishing bits and bobs at some point and Bob's your uncle! Another actually finished finished! :D

Uncle Sam And George Say Cheese!

I have always adored this design. The last frame has always made me giggle. I began this on the day before the 4th of July, as a patriotic start. I knew that I would not have it finished in time. I really enjoyed working on this piece. I really do need to get the rest of this series. They stitch up very quickly and I really do think they are a hoot!

Skipped A Season

But really, it's not my fault. I was in my LNS the other day, picking out floss for the Valentines' and Easter 2017 Flip-It series by Linda Ebright of Lizzie Kate. During my color matching, I happen to come across a particular color combination that I knew would be absolutely perfect for a summer themed Now I Know My ABC's by Barb Adams of Blackbird Designs. I quickly purchased what I needed and started the same day. I finished the stitching the next day, and I am so pleased at the way it turned out. I have a fabric in mind for Spring and Fall, however, I do need to experiment with a floss toss before I make my final choice.

Stitchers' Notes: Began Thursday, March 16, 2017. Stitching completed on Friday, March 17, 2017. Substituted some of the punctuation for various motifs. Will stitch this design in spring and fall themed fabric and fibers. Second of four in this seasonal series. 

I am not too entirely sold on the crab in the lower right hand corner, but I may leave it anyway. It's a bit large to be there as it is. I may pop around to Michael's to see if they have any other fun summer charms or pendants that can be used.

The ABC's Of Winter

I confess. I am serial starter. At least for right now I am a serial starter. In a vain attempt to stitch and complete something, I have taken to an idea that I had the last time I completed this design. I had the notion that I could stitch this piece four more times. With each time, I would be drawing upon the colors that reflect the four seasons. I thought it would be a really nice way to use what I have in stash and to play around with various color combinations, two things that I adore doing. I also liked substituting various motifs for the punctuation. 

As there is quite a bit of snow on the ground at the moment, with more forecasted in the coming days, I thought it was appropriate to start with Winter and work my way around the seasons. I do not know if I will begin the Spring themed one right now. I may hold off and wait until March or April. Then again, I may not. :)

At any rate, here is my latest interpretation of this design. I had to wait until a sunny day appeared, as we have had so much inclement weather here lately. Still in all, I am ver pleased with the way this turned out:

Waiting On The Post

Whilst waiting on the post that contains Teh Hubmeister's fabric for his map, I've gotten yet another project out of the Bin O'Shame. I am now happy to report that it is getting quite difficult to find projects that need to be finished up. I have quite a few still that need stitching, but they will not be fast and furious stitches and will take quite some time to finish. I have an outline of what I would like my goals to be next year, however, I am unsure if I will be able to accomplish them all. This weekend, I am hoping to conduct another inventory of what is now left over and attempt to plot out the rest of the years' goals. I would dearly love to hit 30 projects out of the Bin O'Shame this year. I am toying with the idea of interspersing fresh starts with more Bin O'Shame projects. I have a binder full of rare/OOP/HTF charts that I would dearly love to get to stitch.

Blackjack!

Well, it looks as if my  Bin O'Shame WIP Wednesday project turned into a finish. Not that I am complaining! The last post concerning this evening's finish was on Monday, July 27, 2010. Almost five years ago! I remember pulling this one out ever now and again, but it really just didn't grab me at the time. So, back into the  Bin O'Shame it went. It's been between 109 and 111 here lately in Las Vegas, and the colors are so cool and refreshing. I got this one out after last night's clean up from the Ice Cream Sundae finish. I grabbed about three pieces as I wasn't sure which one I wanted to do. This is the one that 'made the cut'. I am not sure how I am going to finish this as of yet. I will probably frame it like the others, however, I will have to wait closer to Christmas time for an appropriate frame.

Slow Progress

Haven't gotten a whole lot accomplished on my CHS Quaker Alphabet, but to be fair, I'm in the middle of moving across town (the house we were renting from is being foreclosed on) and I am now working full time. My hands hurt too much at night to try and hold my Q-Snaps at night and on the weekends that I have, I've been either too tired, or I've been moving stuff.


At any rate, I've managed to complete another row, and start on the next. I have only two more rows to go, so I am hoping things settle down so I can finish it off soon and get back to my UFO containers. As always, stitchy notes first! :)

4th of July finishes

I managed to get some stitching time in today and got two tiny finishes under my belt. I am loading up some old UFO's and WIP's to get done, simply because I am tired of having so many starts and not enough finishes. I am hoping to get some more done within the next couple of days. The end of December and the beginning of January

Well, I ended 2009 with a bang and began 2010 the same way. On Tuesday, December 29, I received a panicked phone call from my only sibling, telling me that my mother was being admitted to the ER and that while she was there, she had a stroke. The next 24 hours were critical, and we almost lost her. DH and I packed up the car and drove out to FLA, which is approximately 2500 miles from where we live now. By the time we had gotten there, the very worst was over, however, she still has a long road to recovery ahead of her. All of the prayers and good thoughts are soooooooo appreciative.


While I was in the car, I discovered that stitching in the car doesn't make me as sick as it used to, so I managed to get some work done there and while I was in the ICU unit with Mom. I managed to finish THREE old UFOs and I feel really good about it. I have two more that need finishing up, and then I can start the memorial project for my son. (That will be a rough one to do, but do it I will. :/)

Note: The original design called for three very large snowflakes across the bottom of the snowman to be stitched in the Six Strand Sweets Bavarian Mint and cardinal buttons on the snowman's arms. After a miscalculation in stitching on my part, followed by not a whole lot of that thread left plus no cardinal buttons to be had in my stash, led to the snowflakes being skipped and the SMO moon and stars buttons to be added.

Quaker Boo finish

This will probably be my first and only Quaker style finish. The center design where the cat is gave me fits and I wound up cussing like a sailor on a three day pass in Hong Kong. I am not real fond of Quakers, they just don't look 'complete' to me with half of the motif missing and the colors chosen are usually never to my taste. But this one caught my eye, so I decided to use some color in it and see what happened. I like the end results, I just don't think I will ever do another one, no disrespect to the Quaker lovers out there in cyberspace. :)

Newest WIP

inally got around to pulling the threads and fabric for my newest WIP. I've been busy trying to keep up with chores and do some projects that were on the back burner, but put off because of jobs/laziness/doing other things. I managed to get some of my freebies stored on my computer organized. I still have a ways to go. This should not be surprising as I have five and a half GIGS worth of freebies stored on my computer. Yes, It's all backed up, but I really needed to re-organize it and get it to where I can actually find things. (Imagine the concept! :D). I think I am about halfway done, but it's better than nothing.

Anyhoo.... here is my latest WIP. Not much done, but I've been stitching when I can.
