I had a lot of fun with this piece. It reminded me so much of summers spent at the seaside. Being landlocked the last 10 years has made me appreicate those summers all the more!

Summer Solstice Finish On Finish Friday
My latest finish stitched up very, VERY quickly. I enjoyed picking out different threads for this project as I did not wish to purchase any additional supplies. There is always that one color that you are lacking, no matter the size of your stash. And let's be honest, who wants to order one single skein of floss, only to wait 3 or 4 days for it to come in? Or worse yet, having to fight the crowds in the big box stores. No thanks!

First Day Of Summer Finish
And my first finish in over a month. I am still currently in a 'Stitch when you feel like it' mode. I have had this happen before, and I am confident that this too shall pass.
I have also managed to get the Summer Glory heart, which was designed by Linda Culp Calhoun for Leisure Arts magazine framed. I love the way that it turned out:
It is now hanging up in a place of pride in the hallway. I smile every time I pass it. :)
And now, onto my latest finish. I really enjoyed stitching this piece. I also highly enjoyed playing around with the colors. It really does feel like a summer piece, however, the saying is also a good reminder.
At any rate, here is my latest offering:

Skipped A Season
But really, it's not my fault. I was in my LNS the other day, picking out floss for the Valentines' and Easter 2017 Flip-It series by Linda Ebright of Lizzie Kate. During my color matching, I happen to come across a particular color combination that I knew would be absolutely perfect for a summer themed Now I Know My ABC's by Barb Adams of Blackbird Designs. I quickly purchased what I needed and started the same day. I finished the stitching the next day, and I am so pleased at the way it turned out. I have a fabric in mind for Spring and Fall, however, I do need to experiment with a floss toss before I make my final choice.
Well, at any rate, here is the summer version of Now I Know My ABC's:

Design: Now I Know My ABC's
Designer: Barb Adams of Blackbird Designs
Fabric Used: 25 count Natural Oatmeal Floba by Wichelt
Accoutrements: Shell found on the beach at Half Moon Bay, California on Friday, March 17, 2017. Crab pendant by Bead Landing for Michael's from the Tahiti collection.
Stitchers' Notes: Began Thursday, March 16, 2017. Stitching completed on Friday, March 17, 2017. Substituted some of the punctuation for various motifs. Will stitch this design in spring and fall themed fabric and fibers. Second of four in this seasonal series.
I am not too entirely sold on the crab in the lower right hand corner, but I may leave it anyway. It's a bit large to be there as it is. I may pop around to Michael's to see if they have any other fun summer charms or pendants that can be used.
Time for me to be off. It's dinner time and I need to get prepped for tomorrow as well. I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

Thrilling Thirty!
I can't believe I managed it, however, just a bit ago I managed to finish stitching the 30th project out of the Bin O'Shame. The journey began Tuesday, February 24, 2015 and officially ended Saturday, July 25, 2015 with the finish of the flag that was stitched for my beloved father. I added 5 more projects on just to see fi I could finish them before the end of the year. The official goal of 25 having been met a mere 5 months after I started was none too shabby a showing. I figured 5 more could conceivably be finished in the remaining months and I am so happy that I was able to achieve that goal with this latest finish.
Well, on with the show! :)
Well, on with the show! :)

1905 Sampler Part Two Update
Part two of Simone de Jong of Atelier Soed Idee's 1905 Sampler was released today (my time) so I printed it out and went at it. I am a bit worried as I did not start the sampler in the correct spot and now I may not have enough fabric. Le sigh. I will worry about it when the time comes, however, I am probably going to have to tweak the design a bit. Of course, this also means that I will probably change the date and the initials on it :).

Atelier Soed Idee 1905 Sampler SAL start
Began a SAL yesterday that is being hosted by Simone de Jong of Atelier Soed Idee. It's a free SAL and the first part has already been released. There are a total of seven parts to this SAL and so far it's been a LOT of fun. It won't be up for long, as she's posted the following schedule for the release of all seven parts:
15 december: Deel 2, Part 2
29 december: Deel 3, Part 3
12 januari: Deel 4, deel 1 wordt verwijderd, Part 4, Part 1 will be removed.
26 januari: Deel 5, deel 2 wordt verwijderd, Part 5, Part 2 will be removed.
9 februari: Deel 6, deel 3 wordt verwijderd, Part 6, Part 3 will be removed.
23 februari: Deel 7, deel 4 wordt verwijderd, Part 7, Part 4 will be removed
9 maart: deel 5 wordt verwijderd, Part 5 will be removed
23 maart: deel 6 wordt verwijderd, Part 6 will be removed
6 april: deel 7 wordt verwijderd, Part 7 will be removed
I decided that this was going to be the piece that I tried to stitch on the piece of 36 count that I had picked up on a whim. I have no idea what possessed me to try out a fabric with this low a count, but I have been toying with the idea of stitching smaller counts. So far, there hasn't been any squinting on my part, which is a good sign, LOL! :)
Here is what I have so far:
Design: 1905 Sampler
Designer: Simone de Jong of Atelier Soed Idee
Fabric Used: Zweigart 36 count Edinburgh Linen in Antique White
Fiber Used: Caron Collection Waterlilies silk in Cherry Cordial
Stitcher's Notes: Stitched one strand of Caron Collection Waterlilies silk in Cherry Cordial over two threads of 36 count Edinburgh Linen in Antique White.
I have left off the 1905 and the JHA initials so far as I am waffling between stitching the piece as is, or adding this years' date and my initials. The floss that I am using would NOT have been available in 1905 that I know of, however, it will be fun to do the research on that. :)
Well, I must be off. Need to get out another project to work on until part two comes out on the 15th :). Hope everyone is having a fantastic week! :)

La Belle Lettre C finish
Managed to finish this up late last night. I had started it at some point in time to test out fabric and floss combinations for the chart. While I like this combination, I am not sure that I will stitch the whole chart with this fabric. It was of a pain to stitch on due to the unevenness of the linen. Ah, well. That was the whole point of the exercise, eh ;)?
Well, here are the fruits of my labors:
Design: Wreathed C taken from the design Le Belle Lettre C
Designer: GiGi R
Fabric: 28 count Silk and Linen linen in Touchstone
Fibers Used: Gumnut Yarns Stars silk floss in #991 ecru and Caron Collection Waterlilies in #017 Blue Lavender
Well, I best be off. Got some cleaning up to do in my stitchy area. Hope everyone has had a fantastic weekend! :)

Sew Easy finish
Managed to finish up Sew Easy late last night. I truly enjoyed stitching this piece. I love the way it turned out and I cannot wait to start Carol's Sew Quaker. I pulled the fabric and threads for it already, so all I need now is time to work on it! :)

Fabric: Wichelt 32 count linen in Antique White
Fiber Used: Caron Collection Waterlilies silk in Cherry Cordial
***Stitcher's Notes: Stitched one silk thread over two linen threads***

It's Sew Easy
Sometimes when I'm doing other things, I think about my hobby. I mull over color combinations for fabrics and flosses. I knew I wanted to stitch up this newest piece, but the color combinations were endless. Right now I seem to be on a monochromatic kick with one strand of silk over two fabric threads. The fabrics of choice have been a lot of 32 count here lately, which is odd given that I was never a 32 count fan. I need to see in order to stitch and 32 count is a bit taxing on these middle aged eyes! :)
Well, at any rate, here is what I have so far. I love the color combination and this piece is really flying by!

A Christmas same day start and finish
Started and finished this one last night after all the hubbub had died down. It was nice to sit in the bed and relax for a bit before sleep. It also gave me the idea of putting my UFOs beside the bed and stitching on those every night until they are completed. :D.
I also tweaked the design a bit. The big star/snowflake charm was supposed to go between the H and the L in Holy, however, I thought it looked more like a big star rather than a snowflake, so I winged the letter O and put the charm between the Holy and the Night. There was a bit more to it, but I wanted mine a bit plainer. I haven't had a SMO finish in quite some time, and I am hoping to get to more in the coming year. And after the 12 Days of Christmas that Sandy just now got through hosting for the board members, I have more than enough to stitch! :D
Anyhoo, here is my start and finish with the related notes. :)
Design: Holy Night (Secret Shop chart)
Designer: SanMan Originals
Fabric: Black 14 count aida
Fiber: Caron Collection Waterlilies in Moonlight.
Hope everyone had a good day yesterday and is out hitting the sales today! :)
