Lucky #7

I am quite pleased with this latest finish. With this finish, this makes number seven from the Bin O'Shame so far this year. I have five more projects to go and I will hit my mark for my yearly goal for 12 finishes from the Bin O'Shame for the year. This one languished for three years, and to the day when I started it. 

The 40 Count Newcastle linen by Zweigart in Moondust from Silkweaver Fabrics was quite difficult to stitch on. The fabric is actually somewhat dark and the sparkles made it a lot harder to see the holes. However, I managed to power through and got it finished. This also makes the third finish for the month. 

At any rate, here are my efforts. This one will probably eventually be framed, although, it would also make a nice wall hanging or a flat fold finish.

Christmas Day Ornament Finish

This was one of those projects that probably should have taken an hour, but wound up taking four. Ah, well. It still managed to be a one day start and finish, so there is that. This was a cute piece that I picked up on clearance at an LNS for about around a dollar if memory serves me correct. Yes, the whole kit! Ornament, fibers, and beads. I had to supply the fabric and needle. I really do like the way this turned out. It's also ready made for next year, so there is that! :)

Fabric Used: 40 Count Vintage Country Mocha Newcastle linen by Zweigart 

Fibers Used: Probably  DMC Embroidery Floss Art. 117 in Blanc, 815, and 819. DMC Light Effects in Pearlescent White.  

Stitcher's Notes: Unknown beads as provided in the kit. One day start and finish.

Joyeux noel! C'est fini!

I should have just waited to post, however, I did not honestly think I was going to get back to this. However, the fates conspired this evening and I managed to get Christmas In Paris done in time this evening. I had to fudge in a few places, because for whatever reason, somethings lined up, however, others didn't. Ah, well. It makes the piece truly special. :)

Stitcher's Notes: Stitched ornament in the colors of the French flag, Bleu, Blanc et Rouge. Changed skirt from lavender, cream and royal purple to black, cream and grey. I wasn't digging on the purples, but I think the black and grey and cream is très chic, non?

The Frog Post

There are some projects, and some sections of those projects, that would try the patience of all the angels and the saints in heaven. In my case, I am referring to the top portion of La Tour Eiffel, that is in my current UFO/WIP in the Q-Snaps. I would probably have finished this up, had it not been for that section. I had to frog and re-frog no less than FOUR, count 'em!, FOUR times. Four times, with my precious silks. And since the linen I am stitching on is VERY rough, I could not back out by 'unstitching' what had been stitched. I was thisclose to putting the project BACK into the UFO/WIP bin. Honestly, my DH was even getting close to requesting that I do just exactly that! 


But, for whatever reason, I stubbornly hung in there, determined to see it through. I *knew* that if I put it back up, it wouldn't see the light of day until at LEAST next Christmas, if ever. So, I kept at it, although, I was sooooo not happy about having to cut out all that silk time and again. Eventually, things got put to rights, and I've managed to put a sizable enough dent in it to where the project is almost finished.

Christmas in Paris Again!

It's been almost a year since I picked up Christmas in Paris by A Mon Ami Pierre. My last update was Saturday, January 5, 2013. I set this aside as I needed more  Access Commodities Soie d'Alger and IIRC, there were time and money issues in trying to procure them. I know that once they came in, I had moved on to other things, and just put this in the 'Getting To It' pile. I decided yesterday to get this one back out and finish it up. It's stitching up VERY fast and I am really enjoying it. I had a few misfires and had to frog three times before I found my groove when I was stitching on the skirt. I had to slow down a bit and mark off the chart (it's from a pdf file, so no worries there!) as I went. The two symbols are a bulls' eye and a star in a circle. It was slow going for a bit, but eventually, things settled down and I was able to get a LOT done.

Be Thankful Update

Not a whole lot completed as of yet, but I am making headway. It's stitching up a LOT quicker than I had anticipated, which is nice. I am absolutely LOVING how this is turning out on this fabric. It's so sparkly and it reminds me of the few short years that I spent in Michigan and fall would roll around. The ground would have a touch of frost on it and there would be nice crisp days, with the sun beaming down like dappled honey over the sugar maples ablaze in scarlet and gold and chocolate browns. I wax nostalgic for those times as they were happy ones. I miss frost on my pumpkins and the clean, crisp scent of the apple orchards nearby. The crunch of the leaves and wind picking up at a brisk pace, turning my nose red.

White Pumpkin-palooza

I decided the other day that I was craving another fall/autumn type of piece to work on. I'm not quite ready yet for Halloween and I am not sure why that is. I am not sure if it's because stores seem to 'rush' the holidays and I've seen Halloween candy out since late August or what. (Honest to God, I saw Christmas commercials on TV the other day and went on a rant worthy of Julia Sugarbaker.). At any rate, I am stitching what I want, when I want, and the goals I had for this year have completely flown out the window. I'm not gonna beat myself up over the meager WIPpocalypse offerings I have presented thus far, because two finished is better than none, yea? I managed to stitch on a 40 count fabric, loved it, and I thought *that* would never happen! I also managed to stitch on a 48 count fabric and lived to tell the tale. So, it's been an interesting stitching year so far. :)


At any rate, here is the latest start. Haven't gotten too far, however, this 40 count is a bit tricky as it is an opalescent fabric and it's a bit harder to see. (The 48 count Dower linen is actually easier for me to see. Go figure! :P)

In other stitchy news, there seems to be a ton of SAL options for Christmas already this year. Carol of Istitch Designs is planning an Advent SAL. The cost for that is $10.00. Paulette Stewart began her Sunday Mary's Sampler SAL today. Her's is free and she says it will be up as long as her blog is. Lots of options and stitchy goodness to be had! :)

The Queen's Crowns finish

Managed to hammer this out this weekend and finished this up moments ago. I am VERY pleased with this finish and can now see the holes a lot better than when I first started. :P

12.12.2012 Update

No, it's not another UFO finish post today, haha! Merely an update on the Plum Street Samplers  piece that I started the other day. I am really enjoying this piece. It won't be long before I finish it and yet another piece comes out. I am not sure what I will do after this one, as I think I am about UFO'd out. At least I'm finishing up the things I start and there haven't been any more UFO's at least! :D

A Glitch In the Matrix

 Trinity: A déjà vu is usually a glitch in the Matrix. It happens when they change something. 


Well, never say never. I thought I would never update any of the pictures on my blog after Webshots took everything down, however, I've spent a considerable amount of time since late afternoon yesterday doing just exactly that. As consequence, I seem to have updated two posts that were originally posted a few years ago. My apologies to my long term readers. It's a bit of déjà vu and can be disconcerting.
