Easter Sunday Finish

I hope everyone had a great weekend. DH and I had a wonderful weekend. Saturday was spent running some errands and going to the book store. Saturday night was spent with family having a birthday month dinner. Everything was fabulous and a good time was had by all.

Yesterday was spent with the The Easter Fairy. I had wanted to get her finished by the end of May as she has sat for some time. I took my time, but I managed to get the The Easter Fairy finished late last night. I had to wait until this morning in order to take pictures, naturally. I decided to leave the wings off and I like her the way she is. I am waffling on obtaining the rest in the series. I know I want to get the New Year's fairy, but I am not sure on the other ones.

Well, at any rate, here she is. My latest finish and the number 6 finish for 2016 from the Bin O'Shame projects.

Pre-Game For Easter Weekend March 2016

Easter is early this year, on this Sunday as a matter of fact. I have rested my hands and arms a good deal and have taken all of the precautions that one normally does during these times. They feel well enough to get cracking on something else.

I have chosen The Easter Fairy (Limited Edition kit) by Nora Corbett,  as the next item up for bid. I have not touched her since May 28, 2014, so it is past time that I finished her up. She is, as you can imagine, a resident of the Bin O'Shame . When she is finished, she will be number six from the Bin O'Shame. which is nice. This will also mean that within the first three months of 2016, I will have hit the halfway mark on the Bin O'Shame goal of twelve projects completed from that bin this year. Yay! As I am leaving off the wings on this piece, it *should* go fairly quickly. If I do decide to stitch them, I think they should be done in all metallics. The question is, do I even go there with myself, as metallics are notoriously difficult to deal with ? Time will tell, I suppose.

Well, at any rate, here is the last update. I have not stitched hardly anything else on her, so I am hoping that I get some time in this weekend to finish the stitching on this piece.

WIP Wednesday Motivational Post

Not really much of an update, as I haven't felt much like stitching here lately. I injured my right hand at work (bruised it somehow) and it's been kind of a bummer, but whatareyagonnado? Between that and lacking the motivation, I just haven't done a whole lot. As it's the 28th of May today, I probably won't get her done before June. But hopefully by July :). I'm posting anyway to keep me motivated.

Here is what I have done so far:

In case of those of you who didn't know, The Snowflower Diaries is having a wonderful contest:

I best be off. No chores to do today, so I may take a nap before going out on the motorcycle today. Before I leave, here is a picture I snapped last night at Red Rock National Conservation Area:

Hope everyone has a great week!

Easter Fairy WIP Wednesday update

Having a LOT of fun with this one. The stitching is going smoothly, and there have been no hiccups thus far. That being said, keep away, Mr. Frog!

I am thinking that I will be changing some of the colors in this one. I am not too jazzed with the Crescent Colours  cotton floss in Wasabi used in the wings. Due to the kelly green color of the fabric, this is not going to work at ALL. I am right now waffling between converting them to shades of pale blue to match the flowers on her dress, or a very pale lavender color, which would pick up the slight purple tinge in the Crescent Colours  cotton floss in Betty Bluebell, Blue Beatrice, and Blueberry Tart. I am also seriously contemplating stitching natural colored grass instead of the beads used next to the eggs in the basket. While I love the beadwork everywhere else, I think it detracts from the eggs a bit.

Welp, here are my efforts so far:

It May Be Time

Methinks it may be time to re-designate the year 2014 from another Bin O' Shame-acalypse to The Year of the Mirabilia Fairies. Not that there's anything wrong with this, so s'welp me every time I have tried to work on something not a Mirabilia and not a fairy, I've had to rip everything I did out and it was just uninspired and blah stitching time.

I had gotten the next fairy ready to go, however, when I went to stitch on her, the 32 count Laguna in Legacy has proved to be a gigantic pain in the tookis. The stitches are not sitting correctly. Some stitches are puffy and others look like I had to wrestle the need through the fabric (which I did!). I am not happy with the way it was turning out, so it's time to reboot that one. I need linen, I think and obviously, sparkly fabric at that :). As this is to be a birthday present, I do want it to look like it's special. I have also decided to change some of the colors in it, so it will be a at least semi-converted piece. I have always thought that Nora Corbett did a fantastic job in choosing colors, so I've never felt the need to change anything other than fabric. I may do some other changes, but for now I'm just enjoying the stitching. :)

In the interest of fairness, I do need to point out that I did change out the fabric in this kit. The original kit came with a 32 count Natural Belfast linen, which I thought washed the delicate pastel floss out. I knew I wanted to stitch it on Crystal Spring , however, the kit was around 50 bucks, plus around 25-30 dollars more for a quarter yard of fabric that I may not have any other use for. I hesitated buying the kit for years, but finally caved in and bought it and the Crystal Spring fabric.

Welp, enough of my blathering. Let's get on with the show! :)

My apologies for my photography skills. The fabric is a VERY pretty bright Kelly green and the sparklies in the fabric show it off very nicely. I had taken two sets of photos of this piece and wound up with the piece either being washed out or darker than it is. I will probably get some pointers from my BIL who went to school for photography. :)

Here is a better color match to the fabric:

Welp, I best be off. Stuff to do today before I get back to The Easter Fairy  and my Murder, She Wrote marathon. Hope everyone has a wonderful week! :)
